At Stepping Forward Therapy Services we take the health & safety of all our patients very seriously. In lieu of restrictions regarding COVID19 we have temporarily changed how we provide physiotherapy.
Telehealth Services via Video Consultations is the one way that we can provide physiotherapy during this time. This is advised for children that engage well over video, and who have a support person (eg. mum, dad, education support officer, therapy assistant) available to help them. For those children that are immunocompromised, this may be the safest option. And for those in isolation or those with geographically limited access to physiotherapy, this offers opportunity for physiotherapy assessment and treatment.
Clinic appointments are offered in our Surrey Hills rooms. Children may be accompanied by an adult. Both of which will be temperature checked and Covid-screened upon arrival. We ask that if you have any symptoms, or have been asked to isolate in the past 48 hours, that you reschedule your appointment. We ask that siblings do not attend, unless an exemption has been provided.* This helps keep all our patients safe. Especially our little visitors, who are too young to be immunised, and those who are immunocompromised.
Our staff are in N95 masks and eye coverings, and may use gloves where needed. All equipment and surfaces are wiped down and toys are cleaned for each patient attending. Each room has a commercial air purifier, and staff are regularly rapid antigen tested.
Community based appointments continue to be offered by Stepping Forward Therapy Services at this time. Our therapists and therapy assistant can provide appointments at school, kindergarten, home or in the community to support functional goals that are environmentally dependent. For example, accessing the school playground. These services are still offered during the Pandemic, and a Covid-risk assessment helps our therapists determine whether an appointment in the clinic or via Telehealth may be more appropriate at this time.
Aquatic Physiotherapy is provided at the Box Hill Aqualink, on Canterbury Rd. Vaccine certificates are required for entry into the centre, for those over 18 years of age, and a mask to be worn when not in the pool for those over 8 years of age. Stepping Forward recommends patients over 5 years of age be vaccinated for Covid, as masks cannot be worn in the pool, and our therapists work very closely with each child. Please do not attend the pool if you have had symptoms or been asked to isolate in the past 48 hours.
Should you have any concerns or questions regarding your appointment or support during this time, please call the clinic on Ph: 03 9899 4004.
