Clinical physiotherapy involves comprehensive assessment and evidence-based treatment to support a child’s physical development, movement, and function. Sessions are tailored to each child’s individual needs and goals, addressing areas such as strength, coordination, balance, and mobility.

Our physiotherapists offer a range of specialised treatments, including serial casting, dry needling, hands-on therapy, and targeted exercises. We work closely with families to support progress and promote meaningful outcomes in everyday life.

Aquatic physiotherapy involves the use of water-based environments to support and enhance physical rehabilitation. The warmth of the water can assist in reducing spasticity, while buoyancy supports the body, making movement and balance more achievable. Additionally, the natural resistance of water can be used to build strength and improve overall function.

Stepping Forward Therapy Services offers aquatic physiotherapy sessions at Box Hill Aqualink and Ringwood Aquanation, and can arrange for sessions in Hawthorn on request.

Please contact our team to learn more or to discuss whether aquatic physiotherapy may be suitable for you.

Community physiotherapy visits involve delivering therapy in the environments where children live, learn, and play—such as at home, in childcare or school settings, and within the wider community. This approach allows therapy to be more meaningful and directly relevant to each child’s daily life.

By working in familiar environments, physiotherapists can better understand a child’s unique challenges and strengths, and tailor interventions to support real-world goals. Community visits also provide valuable opportunities to collaborate with families, educators, and support teams to ensure a consistent and holistic approach to care, and also helps children to build independence and participate more confidently in daily activities.

We offer community physio in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs and surrounds — including Doncaster, Blackburn, Hawthorn, Balwyn, Glen Iris, and Mont Albert.

Our joint and group programs help young people work on physical and social goals while supporting inclusion in the broader community—at school, sports clubs, or other activities.

For those aged 14+, our Strength and Core Program provides a stepping stone toward self-guided exercise, offering individualised support as participants prepare for gyms, sports, or community classes.

Participants work on personal goals with like-minded peers, receiving guidance on technique, motor planning, and progression. The program encourages mutual support, celebrates differences, and promotes fun while tackling new challenges.

Places are currently available for our Thursday afternoon Strength and Core Program.

Assistive Technology Prescription & Support

Assistive Technology (AT) prescription and support involves assessing, recommending, and implementing equipment to enhance a child’s independence, mobility, and participation in daily life. This may include mobility aids, seating systems, orthotics, or other adaptive devices.

Our physiotherapists provide comprehensive assessments, trials, and ongoing support to ensure equipment is safe, appropriate, and tailored to each child’s needs. We also work closely with families and support teams to facilitate funding applications and successful implementation.
